Yes, Barber’s “Gather Your Armies” Goes Viral

That was the whole idea, right?

Second district congressional candidate Rick Barber boasts a commercial that has “garnered support and vitriol from around the country” in an email release.

Barber’s campaign points to thousands of clicks on YouTube and other websites (150,000 right now at YouTube).

Allow me to play a role, as well. Watch below.

The reviews?

Bad…. from all the right people.

Olbermann gave him “Worst Person in the World” status last night. No surprise there.

British political writer Michael Tomasky of the Guardian (who has been fascinated with Alabama campaigns this season) blogs “watch in awe this completely insane and sorta scary but admittedly pretty brilliant ad.”

WaPo’s David Weigel writes “I’m not sure Barber’s argument here makes sense.”

You get the idea.

Of course, that is the idea.

Barber joins the ranks of Dale Peterson and Tim James in creating clickable viral videos. While it gets attention, it did not translate into enough votes for Peterson and, it appears, James.

Barber has his chance July 13th in a runoff with front runner Martha Roby. The winner meets incumbent Democrat Bobby Bright.
