- The Alabama Senate has come to order for the 16th legislative day of the 2010 regular session. #
- Bingo legislation is expected to be up for debate in the AL Senate today. #
- Governor Riley vetoed SJR8 relating to furloughs for state employees. The Senate quickly overrode the veto without much attention. #
- Senator Lowell Barron wanted to vote against SJR8 and wants to call the bill back up for another vote. #
- Barron: If we prevent furloughs then we are going to have people laid off. #
- Barron: When state employees start getting laid off, then remember we did the wrong thing Mr. President. #

- Barron: I have not since Gov Riley has been here voted to sustain one of Riley's vetoes but today I am going to vote with the Governor. #
- Bedford: SJR8 keeps politics out of the workplace. #

- Sen. Hank Erwin speaks against Barron's special order calendar. Erwin says this is not about BINGO its about full blown gambling. #
- Erwin: This discussion will shut down state government and shut down good bills that won't get passed. #
- Erwin: The average person on the street doesn't really want to vote on this, they are just sick and tired of the legx talking about this. #
- Erwin: I think we should go on and vote this bill down. #
- Erwin: You might as well put a strobe light in your bathroom and start throwing money down the toilet. #
- Erwin: I am prepared to talk until the cows come home, the sun goes down. This is a bad bill. #
- Barron: I cannot understand why anyone would talk about denying the people of Alabama the right to vote on this issue. #
- Barron: Senator French thinks just because he had his picture in the paper that he can interrupt people at the mic. #
- French: I want to ask a question about the calendar. #
- Barron: I think that Erwin was saying things that were misleading. #
- Things are heated in the Senate and the special order calendar hasn't even been adopted. #

- Lt. Governor Folsom tells the members how they should conduct themselves when they are at the mic. #
- The Alabama Senate plans to meet for 3 legislative days this week. #
- The AL Senate votes on the special order calendar. #

- SB379 has been called up on the senate floor. #
- Sen. Means: I respected Patsy Riley until I saw her yell at people and tell them to get a legal job. #
- Means: How can the Governor just wake up one morning and decide that gambling was illegal. It looks mighty fishy to me. #
- Means: This Governor instead of creating jobs has managed to kick people out of jobs. #
- Means: I think the Governor is going to help get BINGO passed if he keeps talking like he does. He has been quiet these past few days. #
- Means: I would like to talk to the Governor and ask him why he woke up and decided gambling was illegal one morning. #
- Means I wish the Governor would call me or come over to the state house so I can ask him what made him decide bingo was illegal. #

- Bedford: If you are going to have gaming it should provide jobs. This is one of the toughest gaming bills in the country. #
- Bedford: This bill does not provide for slot machines, it limits the amount of facilities in the state to 10. #
- Bedford: This is not a vote for gambling or against it. It is a vote to allow the people of Alabama to vote. #
- The AL Senate has adjourned until 10:00 am until tomorrow morning. #
