According to www.maplight.org, a non-partisan watchdog group, within days of taking money from special interests, Artur Davis votes on legislation favorable to them.

Davis has made several puzzling votes, including voting for a large tax break for oil and energy companies, stripping consumers of key protections, voting against healthcare reform and voting against reform of the student loan system. In each case Davis took considerable contributions from the special interests which would benefit from the votes.

MAPLight studies the time frame in which members of Congress take contributions and then turn around and cast a vote for the special interest that gave to them. In Davis’ case, he cast a vote for a special interest within three days of taking money from them 90 percent of the time. Out of 72 bills, Davis took money from special interests and turned around and voted on legislation to help them 65 times within three days.

In those votes, he voted favorably with Chevron, The American Association of Bankers, and Tenet after taking their money.

He even voted for those special interests on the EXACT SAME DAY that he took money from them.

“It is scary that Artur Davis could be bought so easily and that he would take money and turn around and vote the same day for the special interests he took money from,” said Sparks spokesman Taylor Bright. “Ron Sparks would never betray the voters like that. He stands with the people, not special interests.”
