GOP Hopefuls for Gov Go to Trussville
“The goal,” Sen. Scott Beason (R-Gardendale) says is to “ask the sticky, tough questions that make people uncomfortable.”
Sen. Beason moderates tonight’s candidates forum for Republican hopefuls in the governor’s race.
“It’s not going to be softballs,” Beason promises. He says he wants to get the answers to help guide Republicans in their primary choice.
Organizers say six of the seven candidates will attend the forum sponsored by the Republican Women of Trussville. Roy Moore is a “no go” for tonight according to those organizers.
Back to Beason. It is his first time to moderate one of the many forums. The senator has been busy appearing as a guest host on talk radio in Birmingham in recent weeks (WERC, WAPI).
Beason promises he is not angling to be the Joe Scarborough of Birmingham.
“I’m just the only one who returns people’s calls,” he says.
Doors open at 6pm tonight at the Trussville Civic Center.
