Inboxes for reporters today contain results from a statewide poll commissioned by the state GOP concerning a generic legislative ballot.
McLaughlin & Associates reports 50% of voters prefer the Republican candidate on a generic legislative ballot.
Thirty-three percent favor the Democrat in the survey.
McLaughlin says Republicans get a boost from Independent voters (49%-15%).

Rasmussen Reports shows Republican lawmaker Robert Bentley leading Democratic Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks 55%-35% among likely Alabama voters.
The survey conducted July 22nd shows Bentley with a 3 to 1 edge among independents.

No big surprise here at all.
Republican Sen. Richard Shelby comfortably leads Democrat William Barnes (59% – 29%) in the latest Rasmussen Reports survey.
Shelby enjoys 91% support from Republicans and a “four to one” lead among independents.
Rasmussen finds only 9% rate the economy good or excellent.

Bradley Byrne adds another congressman to his supporters.
Fellow south Alabama Republican Jo Bonner is endorsing him. The statement is already on the Byrne campaign website.
Alexander Burns at Politico posted the story early this AM.
It follows Thursday’s endorsement by 6th district congressman Spencer Bachus. His statement was also posted on the Byrne campaign website.

Entering the final weekend of campaigning before the Republican runoff for governor, a new poll claims Robert Bentley leads Bradley Byrne by 20-points.
The Baselice and Associates poll on behalf of Public Strategy Associates shows Bentley 53% to Byrne’s 33%.
