Can’t We All Just Get Along? NEH Chair Calls for Civility

The chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities believes the rhetoric is going too far.

Jim Leach, a longtime Republican House member from Iowa before suffereing a stunning defeat in 2006, says the political debate has become too polarizing.

Leach, appointed last year by President Obama to chair the NEH, is now on a 50-state Tour of Civility. He spoke Thursday night at Samford University’s Brock School of Business.

This morning on FOX6 WBRC Good Day Alabama, Leach praised the diversity of opinions in the political spectrum, but said there has to be a “respect” for the differing opinion.
