Republican Bradley Byrne says the vote by the U.S. House of Representatives on healthcare reform shows Democrats are “out of touch” with Alabamians and vowed to fight back.  Here’s his statement:

“Last night the Democrats in Congress passed President Obama’s health care bill and reaffirmed that they are out of touch with the people of Alabama and the country. Instead of focusing on job creation, which should be priority one, they have passed a budget-busting bill that will cost the people and businesses of Alabama hundreds of millions in the coming years. In a time when Alabama workers are looking for jobs and small businesses are trying to keep their doors open, this Congress is ignoring the sovereignty of the States, disregarding the will of Americans, spending billions more tax dollars, and putting our state and our children’s future at risk.

“As governor, I will fight back against Washington’s encroachment into our lives and our ability to grow Alabama businesses.  It’s time we stand up together and push back. That is what I’ll do as governor, and as I’ve said from the beginning, I will not back down.”
