Alabama’s Massachusetts Mashup
Add to the “attaboys” for Massachusetts senator-elect Scott Brown.
The press office for Alabama Congressman Spencer Bachus (R-6) pushes a new statement on the Massachusetts election and healthcare’s future.
“Power truly belongs to the people,” the statement reads.
Bachus states the election was “a rejection of a pattern of bigger government, higher spending, and massive debt. Some are suggesting that government-run health care should still be rammed through Congress, but that would make a mockery of the result in Massachusetts.”
The dean of Alabama’s U.S. House delegation says “throw the current bills in the garbage bin.”
Not long ago, Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-4) added his praise: “Scott Brown’s win sends a strong message to what President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are pushing in Washington.”
Reporters’ in-boxes were full with reactions last night from the state party and plenty of candidates anxious to get “on the record.”
It continues today.
A sampling on Twitter in the last few hours…
Gubernatorial hopeful Kay Ivey (R) posted @KayIvey: “GOP is freshly energized by Scott Brown’s win. We’ve got new momentum!”
Sen. Hank Erwin, candidate for Lt. Governor started the day @Erwin4LtGov2010: “up to a brand new morning in America. Scott Brown wins. Conservatives encouraged.”
And the governor weighed in at 8:28 this morning @GovernorRiley: “should be a wake up call to Barack Obama and the Democrats in Washington…”
Bob Howell at WSFA stayed busy last night tracking the GOP jubilation here and here and here on this blog site.
