‘Activist’ to run for House Dist. 69 seat

Barbara Evans release:

A leading advocate for Alabama’s Black Belt has qualified with the Alabama Democratic Party as a candidate for District 69 of the Alabama House of Representatives.  Barbara Evans of the Burkville-Lowndesboro area announced Saturday that her campaign is officially launched. 

“People know that I have the courage to lead”, declared Evans.  “I will be a principled and hard working advocate for District 69 and indeed for our state”.  My strength is that I am one of the people, and I know our issues.  My experiences with community and volunteer work will be a huge asset for me.”  

 District 69 covers all of Wilcox and Lowndes Counties and includes a large part of Autauga County and a portion of Dallas County.

Evans is employed as the Alabama Community Organizing Coordinator with WildLaw, a nonprofit environmental law firm.  She serves as the Lowndes County Deputy Coroner and is a community associate with the Black Belt Community Foundation. She is the co-founder and hostess of the Alabama Okra Festival and is active in community and political affairs.

Barbara Evans has one son and two grandchildren.
